TasteAtlas has drawn up the new ranking of the 100 best gastronomic regions in the world. On the podium there are two Italians, in first and third place.
TasteAtlas, the renowned gastronomic atlas that explores cuisines from around the world, has once again published its rankings to guide travelers in choosing restaurants and dishes to try. The 2025 recommendations cover seven categories: 100 Best Dishes, 100 Best Cuisines, 100 Best Food Regions, 100 Best Food Cities, 100 Best Foods by Category, 100 Most Legendary Restaurants, and 100 Most Legendary Foods.
Italy has reaffirmed its reputation as a country capable of delivering exceptional gastronomic experiences, with traditional dishes and iconic local spots that are a must-try at least once in a lifetime. The Bel Paese particularly excelled in the ranking of the 100 Best Food Cities, where three Italian cities secured the top spots, dominating the highest positions on the list.
Italy also achieved an excellent result in the ranking of the 100 Best Food Regions in the world. The rankings were compiled based on 477,287 valid reviews for 15,478 food items in the TasteAtlas database. Here are the regions that achieved the highest average scores.
Where is the best cuisine in the world
Visiting Campania means immersing yourself in beauty. This region of Italy offers tourists a wide array of breathtaking landscapes and exciting experiences, attracting countless visitors each year eager to explore every corner, from the most famous to the hidden gems. The capital city, Naples, the archaeological sites of Herculaneum and Pompeii, the lush Irpinia region, the islands of the Gulf of Naples, the Amalfi Coast, and the Phlegraean Fields—there is so much to admire. And there is also so much to savor.
Campania has secured the top spot in the TasteAtlas ranking of the 100 Best Food Regions in the World with a score of 4.44. The guide highlights several must-try dishes, including Neapolitan pizza, San Marzano tomatoes from the Agro Sarnese-Nocerino area, buffalo mozzarella, and sugo alla genovese.
Another Italian region claimed third place: Emilia-Romagna, with a score of 4.42. This region is noted for its iconic products, such as Parmigiano Reggiano, ragù alla bolognese, balsamic vinegar from Modena, and Parma ham.
The second place was awarded to Peloponnese in Greece, also with a score of 4.42.
